Rescue Dog Games Howl-O-Ween Festival

Peachtree Corners Town Center Green
Saturday, Nov. 1
11:00 AM - 5:00 PM
FREE with registration

Atlanta's biggest canine Halloween celebration takes over Peachtree Corners Town Center this Saturday, bringing together dozens of rescue organizations and hundreds of costumed pups for a day of games, contests, and adoption opportunities.

The festival transforms the Town Center Green into a dog lover's paradise with interactive game stations where pups can test their skills, from agility courses to a professional lure chase that gets even couch potato dogs sprinting with joy.

The costume parade peaks at noon for large dogs and 2 p.m. for small dogs, with prizes for scariest, funniest, and best overall getups. Past years have seen everything from hot dog costumes to elaborate Disney characters, with many owners coordinating matching outfits.

Beyond the Instagram-worthy moments, the festival's heart lies in connecting adoptable dogs with forever families - over 20 rescue organizations will have sweet pups on-site looking for homes.

The Wiggle Butt Contest at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. celebrates pure canine joy, while the Silly-or-Not-So-Silly Trick Contest runs three times throughout the day for dogs who want to show off their skills.

Pre-registration is required but free - arrive early to swap your online ticket for a PLAY wristband at the registration booth, which enters you into the Dog Toy Hunt and scores a free toy while supplies last.

The Bone Bar serves adult beverages while food trucks line up along the green, making it easy to spend the full six hours without leaving your four-legged friend's side.

Free parking fills up fast in the Town Center deck, but additional lots on Davinci Court and The Forum across the pedestrian bridge provide overflow options.

Dogs must stay leashed except in fenced game areas and need current vaccinations - this is a rain-or-shine event because as organizers say, "Your dog won't mind!"

💵 Brookhaven Proposes First Tax Increase Since Incorporation

Brookhaven City Manager Christian Sigman presented a 2026 budget that would raise property taxes for the first time in the city's 13-year history, increasing the millage rate from 2.74 to 3.54 mills.

The average homeowner with a $775,000 property would pay an additional $240 annually to fund critical services including E911 dispatch, parks maintenance, and police technology.

The proposed $42.7 million budget addresses longstanding needs including a $1 million increase for ChatComm 911 services and full-year funding for the Police Department's Real Time Crime Center.

Even with the increase, Brookhaven would maintain the second-lowest tax rate among DeKalb cities, with only Dunwoody lower at 40.165 total mills.

Public hearings are scheduled for November 5 and November 18 at Brookhaven City Centre before the Council votes.

🐾 Meet Chulo

Chulo is a 3-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix weighing 30 pounds who's described as having a "sweet, mellow personality with a love for cuddles and kisses." This gentle boy was originally adopted from Furkids as a puppy but returned to find a home better suited to his calm nature.

He's a dream dog for the right family - fully housetrained, crate trained, and even rings a bell when he needs to go outside! Chulo knows commands like sit, stay, and wait, gets along great with cats and older dogs, and has zero aggressive tendencies.

He loves sunbathing, gentle walks, and the occasional game of fetch, but startles at loud noises like storms or vacuums, so he'd thrive in a quieter home.

Chulo is available through Furkids Animal Rescue at their Alpharetta shelter. He needs a home with older children or adults only and would love a fenced yard for safe outdoor time. His $315 adoption fee includes neuter, vaccinations, and microchip. This affectionate, well-mannered boy is ready to be someone's perfect companion.
